Commenting Review Week

I think the blog comments are a fun and interactive way to get to know the students of the class, since we don't have the opportunity to meet in the classroom in the traditional sense. I really enjoy that you place us into different groups each week because it's fun to get to know the class as a whole, and there is a greater opportunity to hear the different perspectives of each student. I think, however, one of the hardest parts of the blog comments is the fear of being too critical on the holistic and analytical posts because of the barrier through the computer. In person, it's much easier to vary your voice inflection and read body language, so hearing positive critiques in person is a lot easier to take. Whereas on the computer, you're limited to words and strict punctuation. So, it's one of the things I try to be careful with to make sure my words don't get taken the wrong way. Otherwise, I think the comments are a great way to see how others are responding to your stories. And I don't know about everyone else, but it reminds me that I have a little bit of an audience each week, so that I tend to keep that in mind when I am writing my stories!

Being a bit of a science nerd, I've always found these memes funny!

  1. Hey there. Long time, no see. ;)
I totally know what you mean about criticism being more harsh when read. Though having chronic bitch face like I do, most people think I hate them anyways… But I think you made some wonderful points about making sure your words don’t get misconstrued. I know I misunderstand people’s tone all the time in texts, and it can definitely make for some awkward moments...
